Dollar For’s partnership with Expect Miracles Foundation (EMF) is having a big, positive impact in people’s lives. By working together with EMF and like organizations, Dollar For helps cancer survivors and other patients crush their hospital bills by helping them navigate charity care, or financial assistance programs.
Dollar For partners with Expect Miracles Foundation to crush medical bills for young adult cancer survivors

Since 2021, Dollar For has partnered with Expect Miracles Foundation (EMF), which helps young adult cancer survivors regain their financial footing following their treatment. But EMF’s Samfund Grant does not cover hospital bills, which is where Dollar For steps in to help.
EMF and Dollar For have already crushed hospital bills for 21 young adult cancer survivors, totaling more than $539,000.
Cancer survivors who apply for an EMF Samfund Grant, which provides financial assistance to young adult cancer survivors, have the opportunity to get additional help from Dollar For. In EMF’s survey and intake forms, cancer survivors are specifically asked if they need help with medical bills. If they answer yes, EMF refers them to Dollar For for assistance.
This process has worked so well, Dollar For wants to be a part of the intake process for other organizations so that potential clients can hear about Dollar For and get the help they need.
It has been “inspiring – we’ve really been able to show an impact” in teaming up with EMF, says Elise Goldstein, Dollar For’s director of patient advocacy and community outreach. “We want everyone who needs assistance with existing hospital bills to learn about charity care, and we want to help them apply if they qualify.”
“Many EMF Samfund grant recipients face financial struggles related to having large amounts of medical debt, so Dollar For’s help is important,” says Jennie Sheridan, EMF’s Director of Programs.
Two young people helped by EMF and Dollar For are Ashley of Chicago and Daria of Arizona. “EMF referred Ashley and Daria to us, and we were able to get their bills waived,” says Jared Walker, Dollar For’s founder. “Now Ashley is studying to become a surgical technician, and Daria is planning her wedding.”
When other organizations specifically seek potential clients for Dollar For through intake questions regarding hospital bills, people hear about Dollar For and more debt gets crushed. Everyone wins!
