Does your nonprofit organization have clients struggling with medical debt? Dollar For can help! Learn more about how we work and explore our partnership opportunities.
Charity care is a lesser known law that was put into the Affordable Care Act in 2010. Nonprofit hospitals must forgive medical bills for low or middle income patients in order to keep their tax-exempt status.
However, each hospital runs its own charity care program. They get to design their own application and decide how patients must apply and who qualifies. Hospitals may consider household income and size, insurance status, residency, and age of bill. That can make these programs tricky to access. Learn more about charity care here.
Dollar For helps patients navigate charity care programs. Since 2019, Dollar for has worked with patients to submit thousands of financial assistance applications and crushed millions of dollars in hospital medical debt.
All of our services are completely free to patients nationwide, including non-residents and undocumented individuals. We are funded through philanthropy and individual donors. We never share or sell personal patient data and only collect information that must be shared with the hospital in order to secure debt forgiveness. Learn more about how we help patients here.
